Strengthening Environment Cooperation Through Seoul National University Field Visit in Indonesia

A delegation from Seoul National University (SNU) conducted a series of field visits to key forestry and conservation sites in Indonesia as part of the SNU in the World Program (SWP). The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to Indonesia’s forestry and environmental conservation initiatives while strengthening academic and institutional collaboration between Korea and Indonesia. The delegation visited Taman Wisata Alam (TWA) Angke Kapuk, Modern Nursery Rumpin, and the Research, Standardization, and Nature Conservation Center (RSSNC). At the Modern Nursery Rumpin and RSSNC on January 12th, the delegation observed modern nursery management practices, including seedling production, propagation techniques, and nursery technologies that support large-scale forest and land rehabilitation programs. Meanwhile, the visit to RSSNC provided insights into research, standardization, and evidence-based approaches that support sustainable forest management and conservation policies in Indonesia.

At TWA Angke Kapuk on January 14th, participants took part in a mangrove planting activity, contributing directly to ecosystem restoration efforts while learning about the ecological functions of mangrove in coastal protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. The field visits also served as a platform for knowledge exchange between the SNU delegation and forestry professionals. Discussions highlighted ongoing conservation initiatives, key achievements, and opportunities for future collaboration in research, education, and capacity building.
