Corporate Meeting with Korea Forest Service (KFS)

The Korea-Indonesia Forest Cooperation Center (KIFC) participated in a corporate meeting held by the Korea Forest Service (KFS) at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seoul on February 16th, aimed at enhancing private sector understanding of overseas forest projects, including Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) and Official Development Assistance (ODA). During the meeting, KIFC conducted a briefing on the results and future plans of ODA projects in Indonesia.

Notably, the event was attended by 140 individuals, including representatives from 43 companies such as GS Energy, SK Securities, Samsung Electronics, Supro, T’way Air, as well as relevant government agencies, international organizations, and specialized universities focusing on carbon absorption.

On that day, the Korea Forest Service and KIFC explained the policies related to overseas forest carbon emission reduction laws to participants. They also shared information on corporate participation in overseas forest projects, examples of public-private cooperation, and opportunities for private companies to engage in international forestry projects.

Furthermore, they introduced various forest cooperation projects, including the Indonesia REDD+ project and the establishment of a forest fire disaster management system, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts between the public and private sectors in actively addressing climate change.
