Ogan Komering Ilir, June 25, 2026 – Reliable operational vehicles play a crucial role in enabling a rapid response to forest and land fires, particularly in peatland areas where access is often challenging. To strengthen operational preparedness, the Directorate of Forest Fire Control under the Directorate General of Forest Law Enforcement, Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Korea Forest Service (KFS) of the Republic of Korea through the Korea-Indonesia Forest Cooperation Center (KIFC), organized the Technical Training on Motorcycle Maintenance from June 23–25, 2026, at the Forest and Land Fire Management Center, Manggala Agni Regional Office XVII Sumatera, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra.
This activity is part of the Development of Forest and Land Fire Management System in South Sumatera, Indonesia project, implemented through the cooperation between the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Korea Forest Service (KFS) of the Republic of Korea through the Korea-Indonesia Forest Cooperation Center (KIFC). The project aims to strengthen the technical capacity of Manggala Agni personnel in maintaining operational vehicles to enhance operational preparedness and improve the effectiveness of forest and land fire management.
Motorcycles play a vital role in forest and land fire management operations, particularly in reaching remote areas and peatland ecosystems with limited accessibility. Therefore, equipping personnel with the knowledge and skills to perform routine maintenance and basic repairs is essential to ensure that operational vehicles remain in optimal condition and ready for deployment whenever needed.
The three-day technical training was attended by 20 Manggala Agni personnel from various operational units (Daops) across Sumatra. Participants received both classroom instruction and hands-on practical training covering key aspects of motorcycle maintenance, including engine oil replacement, air filter maintenance, engine tune-up, braking systems, electrical systems, suspension, fuel systems, wheels, chains, and inspection of other essential vehicle components. The training was delivered by professional instructors from PT Super Sukses Motor.
Through this training, participants are expected to apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired to maintain operational motorcycles at their respective duty stations. Strengthened technical capacity will contribute to faster personnel mobilization, improved operational readiness, and more effective forest and land fire management at the field level.
KIFC, together with the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Korea Forest Service of the Republic of Korea, remains committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation in developing an effective forest and land fire management system through capacity building, enhancement of operational facilities and infrastructure, and the advancement of knowledge and technology to support sustainable forest and land fire management.
